    FAQs for France Retreat

    Who will be coming?

Some lovely like-minded French enthusiasts who want an immersion experience with all the bells and whistles and thrive from a relaxed program.

What day should I arrive in France?

If you’re flying in directly from Australia and tend to get jet lagged—and who doesn’t?—I recommend arriving in Nice a couple of days beforehand.

I have created a private Facebook group so you’ll get a chance to meet the other travellers on that page.

You can mingle virtually and share travel plans… You even may choose to meet beforehand and organise a dinner in Nice before we ‘officially’ start.

What’s the best airport to fly into?

The closest airport is Nice International Airport (NCE).

We can collect you at the airport on Day One of the program.  Just make sure you land in the morning as you’ll be collected around 1pm.

Oh and here’s a quick tip:

When the plane starts its landing, make sure you look out the window for the stunning coastal view: you’ll see the famous Promenade des Anglais, the glitzy hotels, mountains in the distance and of course the turquoise waters of the Cote d’Azur. It’s my—and many other travellers’—favourite airport in the world to land in!

Is my pick-up from Nice included?

    Oui  🙂

What can I expect on Day 1?

Basically, we pick you up in Nice around 1pm on Day One —you choose either the airport or your hotel—and drive you to meet your Group Tour Leader.

That evening, you’ll enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers and spend the first night in your ‘French home-away-from home’.

    What is the schedule?

The detailed program can be found here (click here for the full brochure).

Here are some of the highlights:

    • Day two: Morning lessons followed by art workshop
    • Day four : Full day in Cannes and Iles de Lérins
    • Day five: Morning lessons followed by wine tasting in a Provençal château
    • Day seven: Morning lessons followed by cooking class and degustation

And we have a program full of other amazing experiences for you.

Are the breakfasts and dinners all included?

Oui 🙂  and we’ll also take you out for dinner in Cannes one night after a day excursion on one of the French Riviera’s most laid back islands.

What village will I be staying in?

If you type ‘Fayence 83440 France’ in your search engine, you’ll see images of this gorgeous area.

How will I stay in touch with people back home?

Provence is a beautiful, quiet area and you won’t have access to Wi-Fi everywhere.

We will make sure to find some Wi-Fi along the way so you can be assured that you can stay connected to your family regularly.

I also recommend talking to your phone carrier about international roaming as some will charge $5 per day extra for you to have your full data access.

Your loved ones will also have a direct contact number in the case of emergency.

Otherwise, we spend our days in tiny picturesque villages so you’ll be offline a lot.  Once you’re there though, you’ll be grateful for the self-imposed ‘digital detox’!

What can I expect on the last day?

On that last day, it’s time to pack your bags sadly.

We’ll have a final morning breakfast in a casual setting, maybe in the group’s favourite bakery or café.

Then, it’s time to say au revoir.

Some travellers choose to extend their stay in the area, others jump on a TGV (fast train) to Paris, whilst others make their way back to Nice airport.

The choice is yours and I’m always happy to offer recommendations.

What do I need to bring with me for the lessons, the outings and the planned activities?

    Nope, I have you covered!

All materials will be provided for the lessons as well as for the cooking and art classes.

Regarding some more general packing tips, I’ll also give you a recommended packing list appropriate for the season once you’ve booked.

Can I extend my trip to include a few days in Paris?

We highly encourage you do that if you have enough time.

Combining a stay in contrasting places like Provence and Paris is such a winning formula to create an even more memorable trip.

Is my drop-off back to Nice included?

    Oui  🙂

I have more questions, can you help?

Of course, I’d love to. Just email me -Devy – on travel@frenchspeak.com.au and I’ll answer each one!
